The SM8 56/12 S grind is the stock sand wedge configuration for golfers who play on firm to neutral turf and present a square face on most shots. The S grind's trailing edge relief creates a faster feel through impact compared to a full-sole K grind, which some players read as less resistance from the sand and others read as less forgiveness on a skull. Twelve degrees of bounce at 56 is the workable middle ground for Canadian conditions where turf firmness varies significantly by season.
