The SM8 52-degree with F grind is Bob Vokey's entry for gap wedge players who hit the ball with a square face and want maximum versatility from the fairway and light rough. The F grind is a full sole with minimal heel and toe modification, which suits golfers who do not rotate the face open on greenside shots and want reliability on 80 to 100 yard approach shots. Eight degrees of bounce at 52 is appropriate for most turf conditions. On the secondary market SM8 wedges remain consistently priced above most competitors at the same age because the groove life and heat treatment longevity are genuine. Replacing grooves at 75 rounds of play is the standard Vokey recommendation regardless of condition.
