TaylorMade Spider X
The Spider X was TaylorMade's highest-profile mallet in 2019 and the one Rory McIlroy used during multiple high-visibility wins that year. The steel frame plus carbon composite sole combination put 335 grams of weight into the head while keeping total head mass in a normal range. The Pure Roll insert with 45-degree grooves produced more forward roll off the face than cast-face alternatives in that price tier, and the True Path alignment system was one of the more optically precise alignment aids available at the time. The face-balanced standard version suits straight-back-straight-through strokes; buyers who need toe hang should look at the Copper variant instead. Used prices are competitive and the performance case holds up well against current-generation Spider models.
