The steel frame plus carbon composite sole combination put 335 grams of weight into the head while keeping total head mass in a normal range. The Pure Roll insert with 45-degree grooves produced more forward roll off the face than cast-face alternatives in that price tier, and the True Path alignment system was one of the more optically precise alignment aids available at the time.
